introduction

The most important piece of information about counselling is that the approach or modality being used always comes second to the “therapeutic relationship”, or more plainly how safe the client feels sharing their thoughts and experiences with the counsellor. We can explore and discover what helps and hinders your sense of safety or ability to talk about your feelings.

Research consistently shows so long as the therapeutic relationship is strong, most types of therapy can be successful. I will work with you to figure out what approach or approaches may be most helpful for tackling your challenges and honouring your way of being.

You don’t need to know or learn anything about the details of therapy to get started, but in case you are curious I most frequently use a range of counselling approaches and techniques such as:

  • Person-Centred Therapy

  • Existential Therapy

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

  • Internal Family Systems

  • Psychodynamic Therapy

  • Art and Creative exercises

I specialise in

You can bring any problems or worries you’d like to therapy. There’s no issue too big or too small and it will always be a judgement-free space.

Not everyone knows where to begin, and if that’s the case for you that’s completely ok. Many people need a little help building emotional literacy skills at the beginning of counselling. So, if you’re unsure about how you’ll chat about your thoughts and feelings, this is still a space for you.

I have specific training and experience in working with LGBTQI+ and Neurodivergent people and always endeavour to offer an affirmative and accessible service.

Finally, therapy can be a heavy business but it’s important to note sessions can and so often do include laughter, brightness and pride.
